Hi, I am Gearóid O’Callaghan, also known as “The Whisky Jack”. I am based in Hamburg, Germany but grew up in Ireland where there is a long history of whiskey-making and drinking. For me, whiskey is something to be enjoyed by anyone who would like to; young or old (and over 18 of course). 

I started TWJ Events as “The Whisky Jack” over ten years ago with the aim of taking the snobbery out of whisky and making it accessible to everyone who is interested. Over recent years, the world of whisky has bloomed and moved on in every way. The stuffiness has gone; it's exciting and rapidly changing. There are now more active distilleries than ever before. When enjoyed in moderation, whisky really is something beautiful to be enjoyed with friends and family.

In the meantime I have started producing a craft whiskey and expanded into organising and hosting events throughout Europe. I also advise small food and drink producers on entering the German market.

My clients range from whisky companies, bars and hotels looking to train their staff, to whisky clubs, trade shows, and private individuals hosting exclusive whisky events. I adapt my approach to each situation, ensuring a memorable and informative experience.

I've had the pleasure of conducting tastings for and with a wide range of brands, from established names like Bushmills, Bruichladdich Distillery Company , The Dalmore and Jura from Whyte & Mackay , Glengoyne and Thamdhu from Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd, Nikka Whisky Distilling Co. Ltd., Glendalough Distillery, HeavenHill Distilleries,Inc., The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, Teeling Whiskey Company, Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd, and even representing the Brand USA State of Kentucky, and many more. I'm also a co-owner of a boutique whisky company called Odds & Evens, giving me a unique perspective on the industry and production.

“Odds and Evens”: A collaboration with Nienke Oostra from Filosoof Jenever

Craft whisky made with our own mash bill and brewed in Hamburg, Germany

Double-distilled at the Wagging Finger Distillery in Deventer, the new make was put into casks and then left to rest

After just over three years of maturation we bottled the whisky in 2023

The first batch was 75 bottles and is already sold out. The second batch was released at the start of 2025.
